Internship Program

OIA's Internship Program continues to increase the visibility of the independent agency system among young people and introduce them to the wide variety of career opportunities. Throughout the 10 1/2-week program, interns spend five weeks with a carrier and five weeks with a OIA member agency to gain a well-rounded view of the independent agency system.

The success of the program has been astounding

Nearly half of the interns who have graduated are either working, or searching for jobs, in the insurance sector. Several of our 2013 interns have completed their senior year of college, and will soon begin to actively search for jobs.

"I recently accepted a job at State Auto as a Claims Central Specialist. I start on Monday and I am really excited. I am almost positive that I got this job because of my internship with OIA. I want to thank OIA once again for giving me the experience that led me to this job and hopefully it will turn out to be a rewarding career! Thank you!"  -- Kerianne Averell, former OIA Intern
