PIA's Internship Program continues to increase the visibility of the independent agency system among young people and introduce them to the wide variety of career opportunities. Throughout the 10 and a half week program, interns spend five weeks with a carrier and five weeks with a PIA member agency to gain a well-rounded view of the independent agency system.
The success of the program has been astounding.
Nearly half of the interns who have graduated are either working, or searching for jobs, in the insurance sector. Several of our 2011 interns are completing their senior year of college, and have already begun to actively search for jobs - jobs they were exposed to through participation in the program.
I just want to let you know that I recently accepted a job at State Auto as a Claims Central Specialist. I start on Monday and I am really excited. I am almost positive that I got this job because of my internship with PIA. I want to thank the PIA once again for giving me the experience that led me to this job and hopefully it will turn out to be a rewarding career! Thank you!
