Earn your Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation

» View current year schedule

The prestigious CIC designation is a true mark of excellence. Learn proven business techniques from the country’s foremost insurance experts. The advanced curriculum is designed for experienced insurance professionals and satisfies Ohio’s continuing education requirement. The CIC designation program will help you to avoid E&O claims by staying up-to-date on the latest issues.

Practical, hands-on information taught by insurance practitioners makes the Certified Insurance Counselor certification program the agent’s choice for insurance continuing education.

The CIC designation program provides an advanced level of study for company and agency personnel. This is the most practical insurance education program on the market today. Each institute includes two and one half days of classroom instruction, followed by an optional examination. After successfully passing each of the five exams, participants are conferred as CIC designees. To earn the CIC designation, all five institutes must be completed within five calendar years after passing the first examination.

To attend a CIC institute, you must be a licensed agent, broker or solicitor; or have at least two years of full-time experience in the insurance industry or as a risk management professional; or have served as a full-time insurance or risk management faculty member at an accredited college or university.

James K. Ruble Graduate Seminars
Attention CIC designees: Are you looking to get more out of your annual update? If so, the James K. Ruble Graduate Seminars are just for you. We are dedicated to taking CIC designees beyond a mere knowledge of the policy coverage to an in-depth understanding of specific risks and exposures. The Graduate Seminars look at the latest developments in the five areas of the CIC program through the eyes of a competent risk manager. Note: Starting in 2011, there will be a graduate seminar class in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus every year. For details, contact PIA's education team at (800) 555-1742.
