PIA remains committed to its effort to perpetuate the industry
through our annual Internship Program.

Through regular conversations with agents and company representatives, PIA has determined that industry perpetuation is a top concern facing the insurance industry. In an effort to address this issue, PIA continues to strengthen the Internship Program and invest in the future of the independent agency system.

One of the program's goals is to increase visibility of the industry among young people and introduce them to the wide variety of career opportunities in the industry. Throughout the 10 and a half week program, the interns spend five weeks with a carrier and five weeks with a PIA member agency to gain a well-rounded view of the insurance industry.

The success of the program has been astounding.
Nearly half of the interns who have graduated are either working, or searching for jobs, in the industry. Several of our 2011 interns are completing their senior year of college, and have already begun to actively search for jobs in the industry - jobs they were exposed to through participation in the program.

I just want to let you know that I recently accepted a job at State Auto as a Claims Central Specialist. I start on Monday and I am really excited. I am almost positive that I got this job because of my internship with PIA. I want to thank the PIA once again for giving me the experience that led me to this job and hopefully it will turn out to be a rewarding career! Thank you!
