Fundamental Insurance Education for New Employees
Learn the basics without leaving the office
How do these classes work?
MERG courses follow a tried and true method of distance learning called Computer Mediated Distance Learning (CMDL). These online courses offer the same benefits as traditional classes, including top-notch reading material, relevant discussion, exams and class camaraderie. The classroom interaction takes place over an easy-to-use computer network. Courses are usually six to eight weeks long.
The week before a class begins, an introductory session gives you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the online program. If you are an experienced Internet user, this will take less than an hour. If you're a beginner, allow an hour or two.
MERG classes offer unmatched schedule flexibility. There is no set class time you must attend. You have the freedom to complete course work when your busy schedule allows, as long as you keep up with weekly goals. This includes reading (either from a text book or online), homework, online discussion and quizzes/exams. Discussions take place through use of an online bulletin board, and homework is submitted online. Your instructor will post due dates and deadlines.
How will I know how I'm doing?
Once a week, your instructor will post a "supervisor" report in your classroom, listing everyone by login ID. The report shows exactly how you did during the previous week. This report is posted on MERG's Web Site for your supervisor to download anytime.
MERG courses are instructor led and highly interactive. As with any class, you will take away from the course what you put into it. Your success in the course is dependent on your active and timely discussion, participation and completion of all homework.
Search the class schedule (don't forget to search on type – MERG) or contact PIA's Education Team at (800) 555-1742 for more information.
